Discuss the ideas that seem vitally important to understanding the federal bureaucracy. Is it necessary?

A bureaucracy ia a large, complex administrative structure that handles the everyday business of an organization. The Federal Bureaucracy is all of the agencies, people, and procedures through which the Federal Government operates. It is the means by which the Federal Government makes and administers public policy- the sum of its decisions and actions. It is necessary, because without an administration- the government's many administrators and agencies- even the best policies would amount to just so many words and phases.

The word “bureaucracy” has gained quite a few negative connotations in reference to its perceived ineffectiveness and abundance of “red tape.” While these connotations are in many respects not unfounded, they do distort what a bureaucracy actually is. A bureaucracy is an organizational structure which includes three basic hallmarks: hierarchical authority, job specialization and formalized rules. Essentially, it is a way of dividing many sorts of work into specific categorical groups of people who are qualified to do the jobs given to them. Without this sort of divisional organization, it would be exceedingly difficult to complete any of the work that is necessary. Due to this, I do think that bureaucracy is necessary, however, I also think that it can become unnecessary when it becomes ineffective and unable to complete its work. This often happens when the formalized rules aspect of its structure degrades into excessive “red tape.” A bureaucracy can also become ineffective by being given a workload beyond its realistic abilities or by being given too little to do in order to justify its existence. Whenever a part of a bureaucracy becomes ineffective, I think it should be eliminated or reorganized in order to become useful again and serve its true purpose.

The federal bureaucracy is the combination of people, agencies, and procedures that carries out public policy for the government. I think it is neccessary in some parts of the government.

A bureaucracy is an organization of non-elected officials and administrators, normally for a government or government department. I believe that bureaucracy is important especially in a huge government such as America, although it could do better without all the controversy involved.
